Litschau, Czech: Ličov, is a municipality with 2,138 inhabitants in the district of Gmünd in Lower Austria. It is the northernmost town in Austria. The landmark of the town is the old castle tower – also called the Hunger Tower. Since 2007, Litschau has been a health resort. Litschau is located in the Waldviertel region of Lower Austria in the valley of the Reißbach at an elevation of 531 m above sea level, about 5–10 km from the Czech border. Not least due to the waters of Herrensee and Schönauer Teich, Litschau is particularly a tourist destination in the summer, advertising itself to families as holiday guests.
