Elmen is located at 978 meters above sea level, is 29.63 km² in size, and lies 23 km southwest of Reutte. The municipality consists of the village of Elmen itself and the smaller villages of Klimm and Martinau. Elmen is situated in the Lechtal between Vorderhornbach and Häselgehr, on the divide between the higher and lower parts of the Lechtal.
