The Flexenstrasse was constructed between 1895 and 1897, widened to 6 to 7 m between 1937 and 1939, and equipped with avalanche galleries between 1949 and 1952. The road and galleries were finally improved again in 1966. There is also a ban on caravans and trailers here. In winter, the Flexenpass (1773 m) is kept accessible from the south (with snow chains), while access to Lech from the north is closed from December to March.
