The Schattberg ski jump in Kitzbühel consists of several ski jumping hills. It is located southeast of the village, on the Schattberg, an outcrop of the Hahnenkamm. The facility includes four smaller jumps in categories K 10, K 20, K 35, and K 45.
The people of Kitzbühel built a new ski jumping facility in the autumn of 1904. The ski jump was prepared by Franz Reisch himself, and for years it became a training facility particularly frequented by the people from Munich and Innsbruck. The first Schattberg jump had very favorable slope conditions and surpassed the famous Norwegian Holmenkollen with a mean slope of 1:2.23 and the steepest slope of 1:1.88. At this time, the Schattberg ski jump was the first artificial jumping hill in Tyrol. The first Tyrolean Ski Championships took place in Kitzbühel from January 14 to 16, 1905. Johann Wallner won the jump on the senior ramp at Schattberg with a distance of 12.5 meters and was the only jumper to do so without a fall. The jump has a take-off height of 1.5 m, a take-off angle of 20 degrees, and a landing slope of 28 degrees. A year later, on January 21, 1906, a jump took place as part of a winter sports festival. Only the established jumps were counted.
