The district court of Matrei in East Tyrol is a listed building in the market municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol. It served as a district court until 2002 and was the head of the judicial district of Matrei in East Tyrol.
According to an inscription plaque, the building was constructed on the court square No. 1–2 between 1530 and 1539. The structure underwent several remodelings, with significant changes implemented in 1717 by Nikolaus Ströner. The building is characterized by Gothic and Baroque elements, with some Gothic vaults with stitch caps and cross ribs preserved in the interior. The building itself was designed with three floors and features a bay window on the south side. Outside, the building was adorned in 1958 by a fresco from Franz Walchegger, which depicts the pledge of Matrei to the Salzburg cathedral chapter. After a renovation from 1983 to 1984, the building now serves as the headquarters of the local police department and the site of the land registry office. Additionally, apartments have been set up in the district court, which was abandoned in 2002.
