Napoleon Trail

The route can begin at the Groß-Enzersdorf Uferhaus, at the Kasernbrückerl, or at the Panozzalacke.

From the Groß-Enzersdorf Uferhaus, the route first leads over former islands, on which fortification works can still be seen. Today, this expansive ash forest is rather dry. From the Kasernbrückerl, the path turns west past the powder magazine and the French cemetery, both hidden in the dense floodplain forest. One passes the forester's house near the Vorwerk and wanders through extensive meadow areas. There, not only deer and rabbits can be observed, but in winter, one can sometimes also experience birds of prey hunting. Then, one follows the Napoleonstraße and reaches the southern edge of the Lobau. At the tank storage and near the Panozzalacke, one passes two more Napoleon stones before starting to close the loop past the composting facility. This little-traveled section leads along extensive meadows, abandoned fields, through dense forest areas, past small bodies of water back towards Groß-Enzersdorf.
