Directions

Guide

The road towards the Martin-Bush-Hütte is easy, it's a big road so it's easy hiking. There is however a deviation route because of landslides. It's advised to follow the deviated route, it's also a nicer small trail but can be crowded in summer and you'll advance a bit slower. Once back on the normal trail, it's back on the big road to the hut. This was the easiest part of the hike, the best is yet to come. At the hut, we take the route that goes towards the Similaunhütte, at the first junction we head right a small trail along the Alm where sheep graze. The path ascends up the mountainside and gets more rocky. The route is well marked and gets you through all the rocky sections and blocks in a more and more steep terrain. Once you'll reach the col, the summit is on your right. You can climb on the summit directly or take the official trail in front of you before turning right on the summit. A last steep section with some climbing to get on the summit. Get a bit of rest on the summit and enjoy the amazing view. When looking westwards, you'll see the next part of the journey, we have a glacier on the left and on the right with in the middle a very rocky part where our trails will go along the ridge downwards. We descend in westward direction and pay good attention on the markings to get you through the rougher sections, it will get easier eventually but still it's demanding. Once you get lower the trail gets more wobbly over the morene. Descend past the ombrometer and keep descending further untill the trail gets you to a hanging bridge, cross the bridge and turn right in the direction of Hochjochhospiz, it's another climb to get to the hut so be sure to stop here for a moment before retuirning back to Vent or stay for the night. From the hut it's about 2 hours to get back to Vent.
