Julien Lahaut was a Communist trade unionist in 1950: he was killed in his home in Seraing. Next to the murder of Andre Cools, this is the only known political assassination in Belgium. He was memeber of the Belgian Parliament. As a fourteen year old Julien Lahaut begins his career in the plant Cockerill. Lahaut´s father also worked at Cockerill and was a syndicalist. During the First World War he volunteered to the Russian front, where he is own the communist ideology. On his return he tries to realize his ideals through the Belgian Communist Party. He was part of the Belgian parliament since 1932. In 1950 he was killed.
