Did you know that the founder Philémon Vanden Stock of brewery Belle-Vue was taken by the Germans to a concentration camp at the end of World War II? He never returned. From then on, the company was led by his son Constant Vanden Stock, also known as the chairman of football club RSC Anderlecht. Brewery Belle-Vue is a lambic brewery founded by Philémon Vanden Stock, who became a blender or couper of lambics in Brussels starting in 1913. In 1940, he bought his first brewery to become a brewer himself. The story of the brewery begins in 1927 when Philémon Vanden Stock purchased the still-existing café-brasserie "Belle-Vue," established in 1890 on Paul Jansonlaan in Anderlecht. The name of this café later also became the brand name of the beers of the Vanden Stock family and from 1949 onwards also the name of the company.
