On the corner of the "Sand hill" or "Zandberg" and the "Nederpolder", a house with a long history is located.
At the beginning of the 14th century, it was an inn, called the "Pelicaen". In the 16th century, it became an aristocratic building in Flemish renaissance style.
During the 18th century, the it was assumed that Napoleon would come and stay in this house. Therefore, a lot of renovations took place, but Napoleon Bonaparte never came.
In the 19th century it became a convent after a donation to a cloister.
During the renovations of the 20th century, many things went wrong. They stripped the the roccocco gables and they replaced them with the renaissance style gables.
