The approximately 3 km long "Wine Wall" was probably constructed or reconstructed by order of Audoor by farmers from the area during the winter months with chunks of Diestiaan iron sandstone that was most likely quarried on the south slope of the mountain. It may involve the reconstruction or restoration of a wall that had been used to shelter the vineyards on the south slope from the cold north wind since the late Middle Ages.
