This castle played an important role in the period just before the famous battle of Waterloo. Count General Honoré Reille, commander of the 2nd Corps of the Belgian Army, installed himself in the castle of Fosteau on 14 June 1815. The next day he took Thuin. It was in this 14th century castle that General Reille, chief of Napoleon's 2nd Army Corps, established his headquarters on June 15, 1815. Now it houses several museums. The castle of Le Fosteau is a solid ensemble from the 14th century. It is built around a large polygonal square, has seven towers and is surrounded by now dry moats. It is furnished with elegance, authenticity but also with a touch of modernity. You can visit it, but preferably in a group and by appointment. There is access to the French gardens, to a lively and original museum of pharmacy and the room where General Reille spent the night on June 15, 1815.
