The forest of Conques-Sainte-Cécile consists of 80% deciduous trees, of which 65% beech and 35% oak. The remaining 20% of the area is occupied by a wide variety of coniferous trees, such as Douglas fir, larch, vancouverds, silver fir, Scots pine, but especially norway spruce. Every twelve years the forest is thinned to remove the diseased and weak trees and to give the most beautiful specimens every chance to grow.
