It is a castle in neoclassical style, built in 1855. The predecessor of this castle came into the hands of the Liège family Surlet de Chokier as early as 1758. The first owner of the current castle was Erasme Louis Surlet de Chokier, the first head of state, as regent, of the newly created state of Belgium.
