Did you know that the Zwalmmolen was first mentioned in 1040 as a watermill "Ten Berge"? This mill was first designated as "Sualme Meulen" on a figurative map made on the orders of Mgr. Triest (1621-1657). The mill originally served for grinding grain and flaxseed. Later, chicory, corn, rice, tobacco, and grain were also ground here. The mill was active until 1970.
