The landscape along Watermolenstraat is characterized by meadows and tree lines. This is the landscape where Felix Timmermans loved to spend his days. He even chose the Grobbendonk district of Bouwel as the location for "Minneke Poes," a description of folkloristic life in the Kempen. At the end of the road, you reach the Kleine Nete at the mouth of the Aa. Since the 12th century, the watermill of the knightly family of Grobbendonk, who lived at "Het Hof," has been located here. The mill has burned down several times: in 1268, 1597, and 1919. Now it, along with the surrounding area, is classified. From the castle that burned down in 1579, only the stables remain. The whole is owned by Count d'Ursel, a descendant of a German merchant who bought the castle in 1545.
