After the St. Anne's Chapel, take the first street on the left. This cul-de-sac leads to the vault. Afterwards, return and continue towards junction 109.
In the 17th century, the first hermit, Geert van Elst, settled here on the outskirts of the village. He may also have built the nearby St. Anne's Chapel.
Hermit Jacobus van den Broeck received a piece of land from the Lord of Werm in 1709 and built a new hermitage. He started a school for local children. It was also James who founded the Chapel of Our Lady of Lorette, a copy of the 'Holy House of Nazareth' in the pilgrimage site of Loreto (Italy). The last hermit left vrijhern's hermitage in 1905.
In 2009 the 300th anniversary of the chapel was celebrated. To celebrate this, a painting was applied to the ceiling. You see how the angel Gabriel proclaims the good news to Mary. Every week a mass is celebrated here. The chapel even has its own organ.
To visit: the domain is freely accessible. The cafeteria is open on Sundays.
