Did you know there is a link between the Saint Michael's Church and Michelangelo? This baroque church in Leuven was built based on the model of "Il Gesu" in Rome. Michelangelo started designing this church in a new architectural style, but he died before he could finish it. His student Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola (1507-1573) continued the work. He was also the one who began the actual construction. The Roman façade resembles an immense altar (see photo).
