Castle Den Dool, Castle De Dool or Castle Ter Dolen is a castle from the 16th century north of the borough of Helchteren van Houthalen-Helchteren in Belgium.
In the Middle Ages, Ter Dolen Castle served as a summer residence for the abbots of the Abbey of Sint-Truiden. The first mention is from 1282. Around 1340, the first abbot, Amelius van Schoonvorst, found refuge here during the wars of the people of Liège against Prince-Bishop Engelbert van der Mark. The abbot sided with the prince-bishop, but the inhabitants of Sint-Truiden with the people of Liège. The abbot gave his brother, Renier van Schoonvorst, permission to occupy the castle and exercise the royal rights. Even after the death of Amelius, in 1350, Renier continued to occupy the castle. He thus came into conflict with the new abbot, Robert of Craenwick, and with the monks, and even burned Helchteren. To settle this conflict, an agreement was reached between Renier and the abbot: Renier could live in the castle for another four years.
