Beguinage

The picturesque Beguinage has likely existed since the 13th century and is one of the three beguinages in West Flanders alongside Bruges and Kortrijk. In 1914, the beguinage also succumbed to the violence of war, and the beguines disappeared forever from the cityscape of Diksmuide. However, the beguinage was rebuilt in its original style. Since 1990, it has been home to adults with mental disabilities. During weekdays, they offer delightful gifts for sale in the small shop "Miss Sybille's House."
