The Sint-Katelijneplein is a square in the Belgian capital Brussels. It is located in the Dansaert district on the west side of the Anspach Boulevard. To the southwest is the Oude Graanmarkt.
The square was established around 1870 on the former Sint-Katelijnedock. It was the first dock that was filled in as early as 1853 when activities in the Brussels port began to decline. Therefore, a square was built on the available space, but a church was also constructed: the Sint-Katelijnekerk. The young architect Joseph Poelaert tried something very new in this building: he incorporated a mixture of different styles. Not everyone found the result equally successful. That is why experts sometimes refer to the Sint-Katelijnekerk as 'Poelaert's youthful sin'. The 19th-century building with its distinctive tower is open every day from 8:30 AM to 6 PM.
