This protected, neo-Gothic church was built in 1860-64. Out of gratitude to the client, Father Smeyers, there is a bas-relief above the entrance on which Smeyers receives the building plans of Saint Urslula.
King Leopold I came to visit the completion of the church. He had a stained-glass window designed for the new building. All the windows were restored in 2005, along with the façade.
The painted Stations of the Cross depict a number of fellow villagers. Noble compatriots were given a tombstone in the wall or in a side chapel. In the choir there are murals of saints in niches: four prophets, four church fathers, four evangelists.
Interior finishes and furniture were designed as a whole by Cornelis Janssen from Truien: main altar with Christ the King and apostles, four side altars, pulpit, two confessionals, all in the neo-Gothic style. Except for the communion rail, the original interior has been preserved. Some elements of the church treasure are older, such as the baptismal font from the fourteenth century.
This church is a member of the Open Churches Foundation.
