On September 6, 1296, the mill was purchased by the nuns of the Abbey of Maegdendaele. It was then known as a grain and oil mill. Until the early seventies, the mill was still operational, but after that, it did experience some deterioration. Unique is that the Nonnenmolen has a second small wheel, a breast wheel. This makes the mill unique in Flanders.
In the meantime, the mill is operational again, and the ancient miller's house has been transformed into a tavern, just like it was in the 1700s. This rustic place offers you the opportunity to enjoy a local craft beer or a snack. The location of the mill also provides you with the ideal opportunity to take a nice walk or a beautiful bike ride in the surrounding area.
The mill is accessible when the tavern is open and on Mill Day.
