Molenbeersel is a church village and sub-municipality in the Belgian Limburg border municipality of Kinrooi. It is located to the south of the municipality of Weert. The oldest recorded mention of the village Beersel dates back to May 12, 1299. On that day, Abbess Jutta of Henneberg from the Abbey of Thorn made a second agreement regarding the tithes of Haler and "Beersele", two hamlets in the abbey principality of Thorn. Later, different spellings are found: Bijersel, Bersell, Biersel, Beersel, Berselle, Beersell, Meulenbeersel, Moelenbeersel, Molen-beersel, Molenbeersel.
