The name of this hotel-restaurant refers to the time of the Spanish Inquisition, when the Spaniards had the upper hand in these regions. Because the occupiers had tanned skin, they quickly earned the nickname 'moor-head' or 'morian head.' At this location, a Spanish headquarters is said to have once been established. The farmhouse then served as an inn, a stopping place for horses and coaches that shuttled between Oudenaarde and Ghent, a wind and water mill, and the town hall of Mullem.
