The pub Falstaff is named after the character John Falstolf, made famous by William Shakespeare in Henry V and in 'The mery wives of Windsor'. John Falstol was a bon vivant who loved wine, hence the link with this bar which was originally a winebar. Also Orson Welles used this character in a movie with the same name.
The Art Deco style looks very much like Horta. The reason is that the designer of this place was Houbion, who worked for Horta.
You can still see a portret of Falstaff in stained glass.
The building is now classified.
