The Sint-Amandskerk is the oldest parish church in Geel. It is located near the Markt in the city center.
It is a late Gothic church built from 1489-1532. The predecessor burned down in 1489. This one was built from Brabantian white sandstone. The reconstruction of the church took place from 1490 in brick. Some parts of the sandstone structure remained. The tower has a base dating from around 1400, is partially also from 1489, and was raised to 59 meters in the mid-16th century. In 1567, most of the artworks in the church were destroyed during the Iconoclasm. Only the statues of Saints Dimpna and Gerebernus were spared, as well as two paintings, including an Adoration of the Magi.
