St. Benedict's Abbey of Achel, often referred to as the Achelse Kluis, is a Cistercian abbey partly on Belgian territory, partly on Dutch territory; the Belgian part is located in the municipality of Hamont-Achel, the Dutch part in the municipality of Valkenswaard.
Officially, the abbey is called Our Lady of La Trappe of Saint Benedict. This monastic community chooses to live according to the Gospel, in the joyful expectation of the return of Jesus Christ. The abbey is known, among other things, for the Trappist beer of the same name, Achel, which has been brewed in its own home brewery since 1998 (source: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdij_van_Achel).
