The Church of Aldeneik is known from the witch legend from 1596. The sexton of Aldeneik stuck her hands to the 'sticky stone' when the holy host fell from her mouth and she wanted to pick it up. Her hands sank into the stone. This was divine proof that she was a witch.
She was taken to Maaseik and burned at the stake. The adhesive stone can still be seen in the church and you could also see the fingerprints of the witch on that stone.
