The 2 slag heaps are located on the territory of the municipality of As. The northernmost one has a summit at an altitude of 165 meters and connects to the nature reserve of the Bosbeek valley and the heathlands of As and Opglabbeek. Both slag heaps were protected as a landscape in 1999 and were equipped with footpaths
