Lieteberg is one of the gateways to the Hoge Kempen National Park. This is located a few kilometers outside the park, on the Stalkerweg south of Zutendaal. After the extraction was finished, beekeepers set up a fertilization center for Carnica bees in the early 90s of the 20th century. This gave rise to other activities related to insects, such as an insect garden and a small insect museum, which was called Fascinating Microcosm. There is also a butterfly greenhouse, where caterpillars are raised to become butterflies. All kinds of activities related to insects are also organized here.
