In this forest with an area of (4.3 ha) used to nest one of the most important heron colonies in Belgium. The domain is particularly valuable as a breeding ground for the blue heron and is also a beautiful walking area. However, the construction of a drainage ditch right through the domain disrupted the water management. The heron population fell from 355 nests in 1950 to 50 nests in 1986. Dozens of couples are still nesting and it is hoped to find a larger number in the future. »»»
