The train station of Ghent-Dampport was built in 1973, but there has been a station in the area for much longer. In 1935, the station Ghent-Waas was demolished, as well as the station Ghent-East, which was used as a freight station for a long time. The new station from 1973 was designed according to plans by architects Dirk Servaes and Johan Beyne.
