St. Martin's Church

St. Martin's Church is a church building in Montenaken in the municipality of Gingelom, Limburg. The church is located on the Brugstraat not far from the Marketplace and is located on a former motte. The church building consists of a square west tower, a portal on the south side of the tower, a three-aisled nave with five bays and a three-sided closed choir with five bays. Behind this is the old choir. The tower has two sections and is built in quartzite in fairly regular pattern with limestone plinth, cornices and cornerstones. The upper part is of marlstone with a brick façade and limestone reverberation holes and cornerstones. The tower also has some narrow peepholes and a bell-shaped spire covered with slates. The nave and choir are built of brick, with the corner bands, plinth and round-arched windows being of limestone. The church building is vaulted by a barrel vault supported by Doric columns with a cover and pedestal.
