Description

The Overmolen is located on the Blekte, a few meters away from cycle junction 25. This is the last of the three watermills Hofstade once knew. The water wheel has disappeared. Inside the mill there are three more stone couples. Unfortunately, the watermill itself is not protected, but fortunately it is on the list of valuable heritage. Originally, the Molenbeek in Hofstade flowed into the 'Oude Dender' near the village. Later, the stream continued via this Oude Dender to Gijzegem. Nowadays, the Molenbeek has been completely vaulted a little further and flows invisibly, under the Hendrik Consciencestraat to its 'new' mouth in the Dender, at the end of this street.
