Description

Vincent van Gogh started to live here in the village of Wasmes as a modern Christ. He started as a lay preacher in the village reaching out to the miners with the Gospel. AFter a while, he gave up his rented room, gave away all his clothes and most of his posessions. He started to work in the mines to experience the people's life here. The church leaders didn't like that much his approach.
