The Poelbos is the most recent, and with its 8 hectares also the smallest, of the three forests in Jette. This nature reserve was acquired by the municipality of Jette in 1964 and declared a protected landscape in 1976. The Poelbos was further developed and officially opened in 1978. Since then, it has primarily attracted nature lovers and scientists such as ornithologists - due to the numerous nesting birds - who find ample opportunities there.
