The current castle Den Brandt dates from around 1780. It already had the sleek French garden in front of the castle and was only further expanded in the middle of the 19th century with a park forest and the English garden with moats and ponds behind the castle. A subdivision was realized in the edges of the domain at the end of the 19th century. In 1910, the city purchased the domain and opened it up as a public park together with the other castles. Today, the castle domains together form a considerable forest stock. Despite the park-like character, there are many typical forest species such as forest anemone, pentecost flower, solomon's seal and valley herb. The middle spotted woodpecker is a typical forest dweller.
