The castle of Deerlijk, better known as 'Gaverkasteel', does not have an ancient history. It dates back to the first half of the 19th century and was formerly a sheep farm. This castle, long hidden from the public eye by trees and its remote location, was founded by Messire Aster Vercruysse de Solart, born in Kortrijk on April 16, 1834, and died in Ghent on July 16, 1921.
