Het kasteel van Deerlijk, beter bekend als het 'Gaverkasteel', heeft geen eeuwenoude geschiedenis. Het dateert uit de eerste helft van de 19de eeuw en was vroeger een schapenhoeve. Dit kasteel, lange tijd aan het oog van het publiek onttrokken door bomen en zijn afgelegen ligging, werd opgericht door Messire Aster Vercruysse de Solart, geboren te Kortrijk op 16 april 1834 en overleden te Gent op 16 juli 1921.
