El castillo de Deerlijk, más conocido como el 'Gaverkasteel', no tiene una historia de siglos de antigüedad. Data de la primera mitad del siglo XIX y anteriormente era una granja de ovejas. Este castillo, durante mucho tiempo oculto a la vista del público por árboles y su ubicación apartada, fue fundado por Messire Aster Vercruysse de Solart, nacido en Kortrijk el 16 de abril de 1834 y fallecido en Gante el 16 de julio de 1921.
