Il castello di Deerlijk, meglio conosciuto come il 'Gaverkasteel', non ha una storia secolare. Risale alla prima metà del XIX secolo ed era in passato una fattoria di pecore. Questo castello, a lungo nascosto alla vista del pubblico a causa degli alberi e della sua posizione isolata, fu fondato da Messire Aster Vercruysse de Solart, nato a Kortrijk il 16 aprile 1834 e morto a Gand il 16 luglio 1921.
