Meeswijk is a residential area of the Belgian municipality of Maasmechelen. It was independent until it was annexed by Leut in 1970, which in turn merged with Mechelen-aan-de-Maas in 1975 to form Maasmechelen.Meeswijk borders the Maas and a ferry connects Meeswijk with the Dutch residential area of Berg aan de Maas, part of the municipality of Stein.Café Overzet in Meeswijk, near the ferry, was a meeting point for hikers for many years, cyclists and kayakers. The café was closed in 2005 and demolished in the spring of 2006 because it was located within the winter bed of the Meuse. In the café, markers could be seen indicating the level of water reached during flooding.
