Description

Nieuwrode is a part of the municipality of Holsbeek, located in the province of Flemish Brabant. Nieuwrode was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1977.The village was founded in the 12th century. The first church or chapel was built in the domain of the lords of Schoonhoven. Until 1239, the parish of Nieuwrode was a quarta cappella of the mother church of Sint-Pieters-Rode.
