Wintershoven is a part of the municipality of Kortessem, in the Belgian province of Limburg. Until 1977, Wintershoven was an independent municipality with 553 inhabitants, in Haspengouw, on the Mombeek.
Wintershoven was first mentioned in writing in 976 as Villa Wintreshovo. The suffix -hoven indicates a Frankish origin. Wintres is said to indicate a proper name: farm of Winidahari.
