Bost is a village in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant and a district of the city of Tienen. Bost was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1970. The oldest mention of the village references Mr. Walterus dictus de Bost and Mertini de Bost among others. The name can etymologically be compared to, among others, Bossuit and Bossut. The name comes from the Germanic buksothu, a collective form of buks, deriving from the Latin buxus, with Germanic evolution. The toponym Bost can thus be explained as a collection of boxwoods.
