From 1988 to 1993, Schaffen had a famous headmaster for one of his schools. At least, he would certainly become famous later. It was Michel Wuyts. Wuyts is best known as a cycling commentator at the VRT. He is responsible for the Tour de France, the world championship and most of the classics, usually together with José De Cauwer, sometimes with Karl Vannieuwkerke. In cyclo-cross he usually gives commentary together with former world champion Paul Herygers.
