You have arrived at the edge of the educational nature reserve 'het Spei'. In 1988, schoolchildren from Oudenaarde planted a mixed broad-leaved forest here. During the following years the municipal environmental department also started managing the adjacent parcels. Rows of pollard trees, wooded and hedged roadsides, copse hedges, standard fruit trees and amphibian pools characterize the landscape nowadays. The meadow is mowed only two times a year to give the fauna and flora ample opportunity to grow.
