Description

Just past the church of Landskouter is the monument built in Balegem stone in honor of Father Frans Van De Velde who was born here in 1909. 'Ataata Vinivi', as the Inuit called him, stayed in the Canadian arctic from 1937 to 1987. The monument was unveiled in 1981.
