WWI memorial in the cemetery. The artistic monument consists of a piece of trench of 8 meters long in which glass poppies by glass artist Joke Van Broeckhoven and ceramic cornflowers by ceramist Annemie Heylen are placed.
The First World War is also called trench warfare and the poppy or poppy has become the symbol of the First World War, where it stands for the strength and beauty that can grow from complete destruction.
The part of the trench where the flowers are placed is covered with an overflowing glass plate so that the artwork can be experienced by visitors in a special way
It is also equipped with an information column with a commemorative text "a letter to all veterans" by Keerberg's word artist Gust Van Huyck.
